    Greek women demonstrate in Athens on Monday (13 January) demanding "severe and exemplary punishment" for officers who served in the former military junta.

    The women, 200 of them and all relatives of the victims of the seven-year dictatorship, were demanding "a real democratic constitution."
    The protestors -- joined by hundreds of sympathiser -- marched to Parliament where the House was discussing a law to punish member of the junta. It later passed legislation to open the way for the trial of the leaders of the junta.

    A committee of six women were allowed into the Parliament to present their petition to the Speaker of the House.

    The demonstration was led by Mrs Athina Panaghoulis, mother of the Parliamentary Deputy Alexandros Panaghoulis, who attempted to assassinate former President George Papadopoulos.
