  • Description

Ghana's head of state, Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, was present at the University of Ghana for last Wednesday's (April 26) opening of a four-day meeting of the International Association of Universities' Administrative Board.

In his address to delegates attending the conference, Colonel Acheampong pledged his country's continued support for the Association because of the values for which it stands. He said the cooperation and assistance among Association members cut across racial, ideological and national barriers, and thereby served as a good lesson.

Professor Alex Kwapong, vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana and Africa's representative on the Board, said the meeting would prepare an agenda for the Association's next general conference in Moscow in 1975.

Delegates from Britain, Canada, Finland, Ghana, Egypt, France, Japan, India, Poland, West Germany, the Soviet Union and the United States are attending the meeting, the first to be held in Africa. The Association's main headquarters are located in Paris.
