    On the last day of her 19-day visit to the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, the Queen Mother inspected the men of the British South Africa Police, May 30, at a parade held in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. Taking part were 2250 men drawn from all parts of the country.

    Escorted by mounted police the Queen Mother inspected the parade from a Land Rover, before taking her seat on the Royal dais for the retreat ceremony.

    While in the Federation the Queen Mother opened the huge Kariba dam, May 17. In the morning, before the police parade, she attended a childrens festival held in the Salisbury show grounds. European, African and Asian children were presented to her. After the festival the Queen Mother made a brief visit to the cities new Civic Centre.
