Background: Towards the tail-end of the last war, the NAZI military hierarchy decided to blast several Rhine bridges that were behind the Allies lines, with one man submarines. For a variety of technical reasons these plane were never put into effect.

Recently, on June 27th., a Dutch master was berthing his ship near Emmerich, close to the Dutch-German border, when he discovered one of these commands-submarines resting where its navigator had scuttled it. It was hauled ashore but the two torpedoes that normally hang in the underside cradles were missing. German police have started a search of the river bed for these weapons.
