The U.S. National League continued its domination of the All star Baseball game with a 6-3 win over the American League team in their annual match played in Milwaukee on Tuesday night (July 15).
The National League was winning 3-0 by the fifth inning and well on their way to winning their fourth successive game against the Americans.
It wasn't until the sixth that the Americans were able to score. Boston's Carl Yastrzemski, brought in as a pinch hitter, scored a homer with two men on base. That tied the game. Two innings went by uneventfully and then the Nationals batted at the top of the ninth.
The situation reached bases loaded with none out when Bill Madlock with a ground ball wide of third bas drove in two runs.
A fly ball from Pete Rose saw the runner on fourth home for a winning three run inning for the Nationals.
The National League has now won sixteen of the last eighteen games.
