    FIVE BRAZILIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS ARRIVED BY PLANE IN MEXICO CITY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING (MARCH 15), THEIR RELEASE HAD BEEN DEMANDED AS RANSOM FOR A KIDNAPPED JAPANESE DIPLOMAT.

    AFTER THE CONFIRMATION OF THE REFUGEES' SAFE ARRIVAL IN MEXICO, THE KIDNAPPERS RELEASED NOBOU OKUCHI, JAPAN'S CONSUL GENERAL IN SAO PAULO.

    UPON ARRIVAL IN MEXICO TWO OF THE PRISONERS -- MOTHER MAURINA BORGES SILVERIA, A CATHOLIC NUN, AND MRS ADAMERES DE OLIVEIRA LUCENA -- BURST INTO TEARS. ANOTHER PRISONERS, MARIO SHIZUO OZAWA -- A BRAZILIAN OF JAPANESE DESCENT -- APPEARED NEAR COLLAPSE AND LEANED HEAVILY ON THE ARM OF A FELLOW PRISONER. THE REFUGEES SAID THAT BRAZIL WAS A "TERRORIST MILITARY DICTATORSHIP" AND COMPLAINED OF BEING TORTURED IN PRISON. THEY SAID REPRESSION HAD INCREASED IN THE LAST SIX YEARS AND CLAIMED THERE 300 POLITICAL PRISONERS IN SAO PAULO ALONE.

    AFTER LEAVING THE AIRPORT, THEY WERE DRIVEN TO A HOTEL WHERE THEIR ROOMS WERE PAID FOR BY THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. THEY WERE GUARDED BY A DETAIL FOR THE INTERIOR DEPARTMENT.
