    SIXTY VIETNAMESE AND AMERICAN CITIZENS PICKETED THE WHITE HOUSE ON FRIDAY PROTESTING OVER MOVES BY PRESIDENT DIEM OF SOUTH VIETNAM AGAINST BUDDHISTS.THE PICKETS DID NOT REPRESENT ANY PARTICULAR ORGANISATION, BUT WERE COMPOSED OF STUDENTS, VIETNAMESE RESIDENTS IN THE UNITED STATES, AND AMERICAN MEMBERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE.

    THEY CARRIED SIGNS CARRYING SUCH SLOGANS AS: "THE NHUS MUST GO" - A REFERENCE TO THE INFLUENTIAL BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW OF PRESIDENT DIEM, NGO DINH NHU AND MADAME NHU.

    FROM SAIGON TODAY (MONDAY) COMES A REPORT THAT ONE OF THE LEADING FIGURES IN THE BUDDHIST MOVEMENT OPPOSING PRESIDENT DIEM, THICH TRI QUANG, HAS FLED TO THE UNITED STATES' EMBASSY.SHOUTING "HELP ME, LET ME IN", HE DASHED UP TO THE EMBASSY DOORS WITH VIETNAM POLICE AT HIS HEELS.MARINES ON GUARD HAD AT FIRST TRIED TO KEEP HIM OUT, BUT AT THE SIGHT OF THE POLICE, THE GUARDS LET IN THE BUDDHIST AND TWO FELLOW PRIESTS.LATER, THE AMERICANS SAID THAT THEY "WERE DELIGHTED" TO HAVE THE BUDDHIST LEADER.
