Iran on Monday (6 October) rejected Iraq's reasons for starting the war between the two countries as ridiculous.

ARDAKANI: "As far as I know only Jordan has been active in helping Iraq and I am sure there is enough wisdom in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and other countries that prevails there and I don't think those countries would like to see the escalation of the war and I don't think they are involved in it."
REPORTER: "So you are going to attack only the Jordanians, soon?"
ARDAKANI:"We are not going to attack Jordanian Government has to answer it own people sooner or later. King Hussein has done enough crime against Arab people. If you don't believe it, go and ask the Arabs what happened September seventh and so on. So far as I am concerned leave Hussein to the Arab people and his own people."
REPORTER:"Are you going to help in overthrowing the Government of Jordan?"
ARDAKANI:"Why should we do it. His people are ready to do it as soon as the gun is taken from behind their neck."
