Background: The thirteen who were arrested for violating the United States Neutrality Act...they allegedly planned to invade Cuba...have been training...and training others...for months in the Florida Keys. These scenes were filmed early in October...just before President John F. Kennedy announced the Cuban blockade.
At that time...they were training openly amid the jungle undergrowth on Florida's No Name Key. They simulated the conditions of guerilla warfare in Cuba.
Their leader is bearded, six-foot-seven inch Gerald Patrick Hemming. He formed his so-called Intercontinental Penetration Force six months ago. It comprises ten other Americans, one Canadian and one Cuban.
On Monday, 3 December, alerted Federal officers began a patient wait on another island...Sombrero Key...while the guerrillas wrestled with the balky engine of their 31-foot invasion boat. As soon as the engine started...the officers closed in. Seized with the men wire fifteen rifles, ten other weapons, plastic bombs and two automobiles.
