    Police removed more than 25 tons of weaponry, ranging from small pistols to machine guns and artillery pieces, from a house in the small village of Berwick St. John, near Devizes in southwestern England, on Wednesday (25 November).

    Police said the arms had been removed from the home of Mr. Mark Dineley, a director of a firm which hires guns and weaponry to film companies and theatres. A police spokesman said that ??? Dineley who was cooperating int he operation, was a registered arm dealer,but the police did not see eye to eye with him over security.

    Large numbers of World War Two Italian and German machine guns, ammunition and wheeled artillery pieces were recovered from buildings on the edge of the village, and were taken by the army to their Salisbury Plain headquarters.

    The number of weapons removed was not disclosed, but first reports said that there were between 25 and 45 tons of arms and ammunition recovered.

    A police statement emphasised that there was no reason to connect the weapons with any subversive purpose, and no charges have been made.
