    Background: Following extensive police probes in South Africa into alleged subversive activities by the Anglican Dean of Johannesburg, the Very Reverend Gonville french-Beytagh, and widespread police raids on Thursday (25th February) in four of the major cities, the Dean was yesterday (Friday) remanded on bail for the second time in his court trial. An opponent of apartheid, he was first changed under the Suppression of Communism Act a month ago, and is now due to reappear in court on May 28th.
