    As more and more international beauties gather in London for the Miss World Contest which takes place on Friday, November 20th, those that are already in the British capital have been doing some sightseeing.

    The girls are being taken around the city in a special Miss World bus and one of the places they visited was the Roosevelt Memorial in Grosvenor Square.

    Miss Cyprus is one of the early arrivals - she is Luiza Anastasiades, a 19-year-old student from Nicosia.

    Elizabeth Ann Lindo, a 24-year-old air hostess from Kingston, is the Jamaican representative; while Carmen Gomez, a television Romper Room teacher, at 21 is Gibraltar's hope for the Miss World Crown.

    From the East - Thailand's Tuanjai Armnakamart, a student who, at 17, is one of the youngest contestants; and Hang Kong's Ann Lay - 19-year-old student.

    There are 59 hopefuls taking part in the contest - in representation of 58 countries. South Africa having two contestants: Pearl Gladys Jansen, for Black "Africa South"; and Jillian Elizabeth Jessup, for white "South Africa."
    The contest was first organized in 1951 - when it was won by Kiki Haakonson of Sweden. This year, in the 20th Miss World Contest, one of the strong favourites is her compatriot, Maj Christel Johansson from Lund.
