    ACTING PRESIDENT SUHARTO OF INDONESIA YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) UNVEILED A MONUMENT TO THE SIX ARMY GENERALS WHO WERE KILLED IN THE ABORTIVE COMMUNIST COUP IN 1965. IT WAS THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE COUP.

    THE MONUMENT WAS BUILT AT CROCODILE HOLE, WHERE THE MUTILATED BODIES OF THE GENERAL WERE FOUND IN A DISUSED WELL FIVE DAYS AFTER THEIR DEATHS. THE VICTIMS OF THE COUP ARE NOW HAILED AS NATIONAL MARTYRS.

    AT THE UNVEILING CEREMONY GENERAL SUHARTO'S SPEECH WAS HEARD BY SEVERAL OF HIS CLOSEST COLLEAGUES, INCLUDING GENERAL NASUTION, AND MR. SJAICHU, THE SPEAKER OF THE INDONESIAN PARLIAMENT. FOREIGN GOVERNMENT WERE ALSO REPRESENTED BY THEIR DIPLOMATS.

    OFFICIALS YESTERDAY CONFIRMED THAT FORMER LIEUTENANT COLONEL UNTUNG, WHO LED THE ATTEMPTED COUP, AND TWO OF HIS FELLOW PLOTTERS WERE EXECUTED ON WEDNESDAY (27 SEPTEMBER).

    THE OFFICIAL ANTARA NEWS AGENCY ON SATURDAY (30 SEPTEMBER) QUOTED THE PROSECUTOR GENERAL AS DENYING THE EXECUTIONS HAD TAKEN PLACE. BUT YESTERDAY IN QUOTED WHAT IT CALLED COMPETENT SOURCES AS CONFIRMING THAT THE THREE MEN HAD BEEN EXECUTED.
