    PARIS POLICE CORDONED OFF THE NANTERRE ARTS FACULTY ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY TODAY (MONDAY) WHILE HUNDREDS OF STRIKING STUDENTS DEMONSTRATED INSIDE. AND ON A TELEVISION ADDRESS TONIGHT, THE PRIME MINISTER, MAURICE COUVE DE MURVILLE, ASSURED THE NATION THAT THE GOVERNMENT WOULD SPARE NO EFFORT IN CRACKING DOWN ON REBELLIOUS STUDENTS.

    AT NANTERRE, ABOUT 1,500 OF THE FACULTY'S 20,000 STUDENTS ATTENDED A MEETING IN A LECTURE HALL AND THEN PARADED AROUND THE CAMPUS SINGING THE "INTERNATIONALE." CLASSES AT THE FACULTY, WHICH WAS THE BREEDING GROUND OF THE STUDENT REVOLT IN MAY AND JUNE, HAVE BEEN DISRUPTED SINCE THE STRIKE BEGAN LAST FRIDAY. AS PART OF THE STRONG MEASURES ANNOUNCED BY THE EDUCATION MINISTRY AT THE WEEKEND, POLICE RINGED THE FACULTY WHILE UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS CHECKED STUDENTS; CARDS TO PREVENT NON-STUDENTS AND NON-FACULTY MEMBERS FROM ENTERING.
