Shouts of "Cuba Yes - Russia No" by anti-Castro Cubans followed Cuban Foreign Minister Dr. Raul Roa and members of his country's Embassy staff, as they walked across the tarmac at New York's Idlewild Airport, jan 6, to fly back to Havana, following severance of Cuban-American relations, Jan 3.
Demonstrators chattered excitedly in Spanish and broken English (SOF), trying to voice their opinions on how a new Cuba should be organized. Dr. Roa declared he was sure that the United States was about to invade Cuba. He added (SOF):
Dr. Roa came to New York to lodge a Cuban complaint of "imminent aggression" in the Security Council. The 11-nation Council rejected Cuba's charge by concluding a two-day debate, Jan 5, without taking action.
