    THE FUSELAGE AND THE BODIES OF TWO CREW MEMBERS OF THE SOVIET AIRCRAFT WHICH CRASHED INTO A WEST BERLIN LAKE ON WEDNESDAY WERE BROUGHT TO THE SURFACE ON THURSDAY. IN THE DARKNESS OF PRE-DAWN, A MILITARY CEREMONY WAS HELD NEARBY ON FRIDAY AND TWO BODIES WERE HANDED OVER TO SOVIET AUTHORITIES.

    MEANWHILE, IN WEST BERLIN, THERE ARE REPORTS THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT THE TYPE IT WAS FIRST THOUGHT TO BE. FIRS REPORTS SAID IT WAS A MIG-19, BUT IT IS BELIEVED NOW THAT THE PLANE WAS NEITHER THIS MODEL, NOR A MIG-17. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN FULLY IDENTIFIED.

    CAR HEADLIGHTS LIT UP THE SCENE AS THE TWO BODIES WERE HANDED OVER TO THE RUSSIANS. A MILITARY BAND WAS BROUGHT FROM EAST BERLIN BY THE SOVIET AUTHORITIES FOR THE CEREMONY - AND WHILE THE BODIES WERE HANDED OVER A LONE IRISH PIPE PLAYED AN IRISH LAMENT.

    STRICT SECURITY MEASURE REMAIN IN FORCED AROUND THE SCENE OF THE CRASH. DIVERS, FLOWN TO BERLIN FROM ENGLAND ARE SEARCHING THE LAKE FOR THE WINGS AND ENGINES OF THE AIRCRAFT.
