Libya's Prime Minister, Mr. Abdel-Salam Jalloud arrived in Madrid on Tuesday (April 23) at the start of a five-day official visit to Spain.
During his stay he'll have talks with Spanish officials on economic cooperation. In a statement at the airport, Mr. Jalloud said he expected the talks to be beneficial to both Libya and Spain.
A fer hours after his arrival, the Libyan leader met Prince Juan Carlos, the designated leader of Spain after General Franco.
Libya is one of Spain's main suppliers of crude oil. Trade between the two countries last year amounted to some 56 million pounds sterling (about 120 million U.S. Dollars) It's expected oil will be the main topic of conversation during Mr. Jalloud's visit.
