President Idi Amin of Uganda arrived in Cairo on Sunday (6 February) for a one-day visit. He met Egyptian Government leaders during his brief stay. President Amin, who was accompanied by his wife and his Minister of Foreign Affairs, was greeted upon his arrival in Cairo by Egyptian Vice-President Hussein el Shafei.
On Monday (7 February), General Amin left for Frankfurt for a four-day unofficial visit to West Germany. The Ugandan President said he was going to visit West Germany "to find new markets for Uganda's produce and to strengthen Uganda's relations with the outside world".
