Swaziland's Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Abednego Hlope, has told the United Nations General Assembly that his country is distressed by the situation in South Africa, where the death of innocent people had become 'a way of life'. He also called for the demilitarisation of the Indian Ocean. The Minister appeared at the rostrum bare-chested, wearing a feathered tribal headdress and beads.
SYNOPSIS: Then it was the turn of Cameroun's Foreign Minister M. Jean Keutcha to speak -- and his theme was Rhodesia. He said his government had already expressed reservations about proposals by the allies and accomplices o??? Salisbury and Pretoria for a peaceful change to black majority rule. He said he wished events had not proved Cameroun correct. M. Keutcha said that far from giving power to the majority, Rhodesia's Premier Ian Smith was turning his back on any provisions negotiated with those he had been fighting -- he had been organising an election masquerade and from time to time massacring the peaceful populations of Zambia, Botswana and Mozambique. M. Keutcha said the black people of South Africa were standing firm before the assassin's bullet -- convinced that death was preferable to slavery.
