Scientists from Great Britain, America and Russia presented at the 109th Session of U.N.O. Nuclear?
Scientists from Great Britain, America and Russia presented at the 109th Session of U.N.O. Nuclear Conferences, held July 10th at Osnevs, Switzerland their latest proposals to detest and central high-altitude explosions.
The basic idea, a considerable step forward in negotiations which have been going on since October 1958, is to put in orbit round the earth, more them 18,000 miles up, a series of satellites containing electronic recording equipment to check nuclear explosions anywhere in space.
A cheaper method would be a system of satellites in orbit up to 400 metres which could check explosions as high as 6,000 miles up.
All date would be transmitted to control posts, to enable the three Countries working together to 'polios' the vest expose of Space.
At the meeting attended by Mr. Hammarskjold, Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ornsby-Gore, (Great Britain) Mr. Wadsworth (U.S.A.) and Mr. Tasrapkin (Russia) congratulated the scientists on their report.
