    After a flight from Seattle to London, in 9 hours 44 minutes, the first boeing 707 jet airliner to go into service with British Overseas Airways Corporation, was handed over to Basil Smallpiece, the managing director, Apr 29. Powered by Rolls-Royce engines the new aircraft is 50 yards long.

    A British airworthiness certificate was issued for the aircraft before it left america. for this version several modifications were made at the request of the Britain Air Registration Board.

    Commanded by Captain Stoney, flight manager of the B.O.A.C. Boeing flight, the 707 covered the 5,000 mile trip at just over 500 miles per hour, B.O.A.C. have ordered 15 Boeing jets at a cost of about GBP44 million. The aircraft are due to go into passenger service in June.
