    On the second day (Wednesday, 5 September) of the finals at the World Swimming championships at Belgrade's Tasmajdan outdoor pool, United States teams and individuals have maintained their winning form.

    The Women's 200 metres Freestyle was won by America's Keen Rothanner in a time of 2 minutes 04.99. Her compatriot Shirley Babashoff was second and East Germany's Andrea Eife took third place.

    It was an American team win in the Men's 4 x 100 metres Freestyle. The United States team of William Miller, Stan Carper, Kurt Krumholty and Richard Klatt had a time of 3 minutes 27.18 seconds -- a full four seconds ahead of the second-placed U.S.S.R. team. East Germany again took third place in this event.

    But it was an East German win in the Women's 100 metres breaststroke where Renate Vogel had a time of 1 minute 13.74 seconds, a twentieth of a second under her own European record. Second was the Soviet Union's Liubov Rusanova and third Brigitte Schuchardt of East Germany.

    Overall the second day was in a lower key than the first with only three European records being set compared to five World ones on the opening
