Background: Representatives from Universities and institutions in Africa are in Nairobi for a population education seminar. The organisers, members of the University of Nairchi say its the first such seminar held in the continent. The official opening was held on Monday (April 29) and the discussions will end on Saturday (May 4th). A number of authors have been invited to the seminar. They'll be asked to prepare a source book which can be used by curriculum developers and other writers or learners interested in population education. One of the guidelines to be used are population studies undertaken in Asia. It was pointed out at the opening day of the seminar that there have been very limited studies carried out in Africa into population trends and their effects.
