Herr Schulze arrived in Fort Lamy on Tuesday at the head of the first official delegation sent to Chad by East Germany. His team includes vice-Foreign Minister Wolfgang Kieswetter and other high ranking officials. The delegation also met with Chad Foreign Minister, M. Hassan Baba.
SYNOPSIS: The first East German delegation ever to visit Chad. arrived in Fort Lamy on Wednesday (August 18) for a series of talks with senior government officials. The delegation, which is led by East German Minister of Posts and Communications, Herr Rudolph Schulze, first met with Chad's Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Hassan Baba.
On Wednesday the delegation, which includes the vice-Foreign Minister, Wolfgang Kieswetter, called on President Francois Tombalbaye. Herr Schulze later described the talks as very friendly and marked by a spirit of mutual understanding
Herr Schulze said he and the President had a large number of points in common and "share the desire to co-operate in the interests of their two countries for peace and understanding between peoples."
