    THE NEW WAVE OF ARRESTS FOLLOWED AN INCREASED CAMPAIGN BY BIRMINGHAM NEGROES TO END RACIAL SEGREGATION.THEY ARE PRESSING PARTICULARLY AGAINST SEGREGATED RESTAURANTS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES.

    ONE LITTLE GIRL WHO SAID SHE WAS SIX WAS PLACED IN A POLICE VAN.ALTOGETHER ABOUT 450 CHILDREN BETWEEN 6 AND 16 WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH PARADING WITHOUT A PERMIT.

    FIREMEN HAD HIGH PRESSURE HOSES READY BUT MOST OF THE OTHER DEMONSTRATORS MADE NO ATTEMPT TO RESIST ARREST.MANY JOKED AND SANG.THE REV.F.SHUTTLEWORTH HEAD OF THE ALABAMA CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT TOLD REPORTERS: "THE DEMONSTRATORS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL WE RUN OUT OF CHILDREN".
