    REGARDED BY MANY AS THE AUTHOR OF THE SWEEPING REFORMS IN THE CZECH ECONOMY WHICH CAME INTO FORCE AT THE BEGINNING OF 1967, PROFESSOR SIK IS THE FIRST SENIOR MEMBER OF THE CZECHOSLOVAKIAN GOVERNMENT FORMED IN APRIL TO VISIT A WESTERN COUNTRY. THE INFORMAL TALKS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO TOUGH ON TRADE AND ECONOMIC AID.

    HIS VISIT TO BRITAIN IS AT THE INVITATION OF SIR CECIL PARROT, PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AT LANCASTER UNIVERSITY. SIR CECIL WAS FOR MANY YEARS BRITISH AMBASSADOR IN PRAGUE BEFORE HE LEFT THE FOREIGN OFFICE FOR THE ACADEMIC WORLD.
