    Israel's Prime Minister Mrs Golda Meir once again rejected the UAR conditions for peace in the Middle East on Sunday in jerusalem at the opening of the first elected Convention of the re-constituted Israel Labour Party.

    The UAR is asking for Israel's partial withdrawal from the east bank of the Suez Canal, in return for which it will re-open the waterway to shipping. For a statement of the Egyptian position, see our Production No. 3691/71, also serviced today.

    Three thousand-odd delegates and guests representing the main power structure of Israel society were present at the convention to hear Mrs Meir's speech, together with 60 fraternal delegates form 30 foreign social democratic parties and members of the diplomatic corps.
