    AS A RESULT OF CUTS IN BRITAIN'S CURRENT MILITARY BUDGET, THE COLONY OF HONGKONG HAS LOST THE ONE REMAINING ROYAL AIR FORCE SQUADRON THAT WAS STATIONED THERE. THE 28TH SQUADRON, WHICH HAD BEEN STATIONED 17 YEARS IN THE COLONY, PULLED OUT LAST FRIDAY.

    THE CEREMONIAL DISBANDMENT PARADE TOOK PLACE AT THE RAF STATION AT KAI TAK AIRPORT, HONGKONG. THE COLONY'S GOVERNOR, SIR DAVID TRENCH, TOOK THE SALUTE FROM 33 OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE SQUADRON.

    AFTER THE PARADE, THE SQUADRON BADE FAREWELL TO HONGKONG BY FLYING LOW OVER JUNKS IN THE HARBOUR AND PAST THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT. THE FLYPAST WAS CONDUCTED BY TWO HAWKER HUNTERS AND A TWO-SEATER T-4 JET TRAINER, FROM WHICH THE ACCOMPANYING FILM WAS SHOT.
