  • Description

President Jean Bedel Bokassa of the Central African Republic is in the Ivory Coast on an official visit at the invitation of President Houphouet-Boigny. Soon after President Bokassa's arrival it was announced that the duration of the visit was being extended from six days to eight.

Much of the visit is being spent in rural areas, where the 50-strong Central African delegation is studying the Ivory Coast's agricultural mechanisation schemes and comparing them with their own, launched under President Bokassa four years ago. But there was speculation that the two Presidents would also be discussing the possibility of a dialogue with South Africa.

The arrival scenes were shot by Bill Woodman, Visnews staff cameraman in Abidjan.
