Background: The Governor-General, Mr. Massey, makes a visit to his native city, Toronto. One of his duties during the day: officiating at the opening of a three-million dollar display of English silver. It's one of the most colorful in the city in years.
Over fifteen-hundred guests attend the formal opening ceremonies at the Royal Ontario Museum, Mr. Massey declares the exhibition open --and afterwards, receives many of the guests.
The display itself shows seven centuries of ancestral treasures in silver --including several valuable pieces from the collection of the Queen. The preparations for the elaborate showing took four months.
