    PICKETS DEMONSTRATING AGAINST ALLEGED JOB DISCRIMINATION STAGED A SIT-DOWN PROTEST AT THE JEFFERSON BANK AND TRUST COMPANY IN ST.LOUIS, MISSOURI, ON OCT.4 AND 5.FORMING A HUMAN CHAIN ACROSS THE ENTRANCE, THEY TRIED TO STOP WORKERS FROM A NEARBY FACTORY CASHING THEIR CHECKS.THE WORKERS PUSHED AND KICKED THEIR WAY IN BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED TO ARREST THE PICKETS -- CARRYING THEM AWAY.

    SEVEN OF THE 15 ARRESTED, APPEARING LATER IN A SPECIAL NIGHT COURT SESSION, WERE DEMANDED FOR SENTENCE ON CHARGES OF CONTEMPT OF A COURT ORDER PROHIBITING DEMONSTRATORS FROM INTERFERING WITH BUSINESS AT THE BANK.THE COURT ORDER WAS MADE AFTER THE PICKETING FIRST BEGAN ON AUGUST 30.

    THE CONGRESS OF RACIAL EQUALITY, WHICH ACCUSES THE BANK OF JOB DISCRIMINATION, SAYS IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LATEST DEMONSTRATION.
