    PRESIDENT KAUNDA OF ZAMBIA YESTERDAY (MONDAY) LAUNCHED HIS "CO-OPERATIVE WEEK" WITH A VISIT TO THE COPPERBELT FOR A WEEK OF ON-THE-SPOT INSPECTIONS.

    PRESIDENT KAUNDA LAUNCHED THE CO-OPERATIVE MOVEMENT A YEAR AGO AS A WAY OF HELPING ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT. NOW DURING CO-OPERATIVE WEEK HE IS TO REVIEW WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING BY A SERIES OF VISITS TO CO-OPERATIVES AND HE HOPES TO FIND OUT HOW THE GOVERNMENT CAN IMPROVE THE SYSTEM.

    YESTERDAY (MONDAY) HE STARTED HIS WEEK OF INSPECTION BY A VISIT TO THE KAFUBU AREA NEAR KAPIRI MPOSHI ACCOMPANIED BY THE MINISTER FOR THE WESTERN PROVINCE, MR. ANDREW MATEMBA, THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, MR. ELIJAH MUDENDAH AND THE MINISTER OF CO-OPERATIVES, MR. GREY ZULU.

    PRESIDENT KAUNDA SAID THAT PROJECT MANAGERS WOULD BE APPOINTED TO CO-OPERATIVES WHICH LACKED EXPERIENCE AND THAT CO-OPERATIVE EXPERTS WOULD BE BROUGHT INTO ZAMBIA FROM OTHER COUNTRIES. COPPERBELT CO-OPERATIVES, HE SAID, WOULD BE HANDLED BY EXPERTS FROM ISRAEL.
