    FIFTEEN THOUSAND PEOPLE CROWDED THE APPROACHES TO THE INDIAN PARLIAMENT YESTERDAY (8 NOV) AS IT ASSEMBLED FOR THE MOST VITAL SESSION IN FIFTEEN YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE. THE CROWD SHOUTED SLOGANS, AND HANDED IN MEMORANDUMS, IN SUPPORT OF THE GOVERNMENT'S DETERMINATION TO STAND UP AGAINST CHINESE AGGRESSION.

    PARLIAMENT WAS MEETING TO APPROVE THE STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED BY PRESIDENT RADHAKRISHNAN ON OCTOBER 26 WHICH GIVE THE GOVERNMENT SWEEPING POWERS TO CONTROL THE LIFE AND ECONOMY OF THE COUNTRY.

    INSIDE PARLIAMENT HOUSE MR. NEHRU TOLD CHEERING M.P'S THAT INDIA WOULD NEVER SUBMIT TO THE CHALLENGE OFFERED BY THE CHINESE INVADER. SITTING IN THE CROWDED CHAMBER WAS HIS FRIEND OF FORTY YEARS MR. KRISHNA MENON, RECENTLY DISMISSED (7 NOV) FROM THE CABINET WHO HEARD OPPOSITION LEADER MR. VAJPAYEEE DEMAND AN INQUIRY INTO THE COUNTRY'S POOR STATE OF MILITARY PREPAREDNESS.
