    PRINCESS ALEXANDRA OF KENT MADE A SPECIAL TRIP TO THE THANBYUZAY WAR GRAVES, 130 MILES FROM RANGOON, DURING HER VISIT TO BURMA, NOV.27. THE MEMORIAL HAS ABOUT 3,100 NAMES. MANY BELONG TO MEN WHO DIED DURING 1943 AND 1945 WHILE CONSTRUCTING THE RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN THAILAND AND BURMA.

    THEY INCLUDE SERVICEMEN FROM U.K. (1,500) AUSTRALIA (1,300), MALAYA, INDIA, PAKISTAN, NEW ZEALAND, CANADA AND BURMA. THE PRINCESS VISIT TO BURMA BEGAN WITH A VISIT TO THE MEMORIAL. FROM THAILAND SHE FLEW TO MOULMEIN, 100 MILES NORTH OF RANGOON, AND THEN MOTORED 40 MILES TO THE MEMORIAL, IN JUNGLE-LAND.

    SHE WAS GIVEN A WARM WELCOME BY CHILDREN AND PEOPLE OF THANBYUZAY VILLAGE. DURING THIS TRIP SHE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY BRITISH AMBASSADOR SIR RICHARD ALLEN AND GENERAL NE WIN, SUPREME COMMANDER OF BURMESE FORCES, AND HIS WIFE.
