    Investigators are analysing the wreckage of a Soviet-built Egyptian airliner that crashed into a Cypriot mountain on Monday (January 29) killing all 37 passengers and crew.

    Most of the passengers were from the United Kingdom, as well as from Jordan, Canada and France.

    An Egyptian investigating team was expected to join Cypriot investigators looking into the cause of the crash. The plane, a four-engined, turbo-prop llyushin 18, was on its way to Nicosia from Cairo.

    SYNOPSIS: Thirty-seven people died on Monday night in the crash of this Egyptian airliner on a Cyprus mountainside.

    There were no survivors. Most of the passengers were from Britain, with others from Jordan, Canada and France. The plane was & Soviet-built Ilyushin 18 on a flight form Cairo to Nicosia, the Cypriot capital.

    The crash occurred at dusk, about three thousand feet up a mountain in Kyrenia district. Egyptian investigators are expected to aid Cypriot authorities at the inquiry into the crash.
