  • Description

Two hundred angry wine growers in southern France demonstrated on Wednesday (26 February) against what they called "the ruinous importation of Italian wine".

They converged on Montpelier and stopped traffic on the outskirts of the town to draw attention to their grievance.

The highlight of the demonstration came with the occupation of the Italian Consulate in montpelier. A small group of demonstrators locked themselves into the Cancellate for two hours, throwing all the papers they found there out of the windows before leaving.
