    PRESIDENT TITO OF YUGOSLAVIA HAS BEGUN HIS EIGHT-DAY STATE VISIT TO JAPAN, THE FIRST EVER MADE THERE BY A COMMUNIST HEAD OF STATE. HE WAS WELCOMED AT TOKYO AIRPORT YESTERDAY BY EMPEROR HIROCHITO.

    THE VISITING HEAD OF STATE HAS ALREADY HAD TWO SESSIONS OF TALKS WITH THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER, MR. EISAKU SATO. PRESIDENT TITO IS SAID TO HAVE TOLD MR. SATO HE WAS CERTAIN THAT THE SOVIET UNION SINCERELY WANTED TO SEE A PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT IN VIETNAM. THE TWO LEADERS WELCOMED THE RECENT STEPS TAKEN TOWARDS PEACE TALKS BY WASHINGTON AND HANOI. THEY AGREED THAT THE PRINCIPLES OF CO-EXISTENCE AND NON-INTERFERENCE IN OTHER COUNTRIES' DOMESTIC AFFAIRS SHOULD BE HONOURED FOR THE SAKE OF WORLD PEACE. PRESIDENT TITO IS REPORTED TO HAVE TOLD MR. SATO THAT THE RECENT TREND IN COMMUNIST COUNTRIES WAS TOWARDS POLICIES OF NON-INTERFERENCE IN THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF OTHER NATIONS. ON THE MIDDLE EAST DISPUTE, PRESIDENT TITO SAID THAT RESULTING FROM HIS RECENT MEETING WITH PRESIDENT NASSER HE THOUGHT THAT EGYPT WAS DETERMINED THAT ISRAEL SHOULD GIVE UP THE TERRITORY WON IN LAST JUNE'S WAR.
