DAYAN: "I am not bringing with me any detailed plan but we have outlined our concepts about the way we have to get a settlement on the three different fronts with Egypt, with Syria, and with Jordan, and that includes what we think should be the approach for the West Bank. And if the other parties, the Arabs, and may be the Americans would be interested in going into it. I shall do it."



DAYAN: "We are ready to get on with the Palestinians of the west Bank and Gaza, but not in Geneva. Geneva is a conference for getting a peace treaty between states, and we of course recognise that if we want to live together with the Palestinians in the Bank and Gaza Strip, we have to listen to them about how they feel this modus vivendi, the (indistinct) living together, but not as a delegation in Geneva and not as a representative of a State."



Mr Dayan went to Brussels on Thursday (15 September) to explain Israeli settlement policy in the occupied territories to European groups. After his talks with the American Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance, Mr Dayan will go to New York where he'll lead his country's delegation at the United Nations for the forthcoming General Assembly session.

He said he would only go into detail if the Arabs asked him.

SYNOPSIS: Mr Dayan made the remarks to reporters at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport where he held a news conference before his departure on Thursday (15 September) for Brussels where he was to stay for a day en route to Washington.

Mr. Dayan also repeated Israel's opposition to peace talks with the Palestinians in Geneva.
