Uganda's Moslem President, General Idid Amin, has asked that four of his sons be trained as Roman Catholic priests. Uganda's acting Chief Justice, Mr. Benedictor Kiwanuka, made the announcement as the President was attending the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Bukalasa Roman Catholic Seminary, 80 miles (128 kilometres) south of Kampala on Sunday (5 September).
The President has four wives and more than ten children. This film was shot as the President attended the celebratory Mass sung by the Nuncio ??? Apostolic to Uganda, Archbishop Bellotti.
The Bukalasa Seminary, the first to be set up in any African country south of the Sahara, was founded in 1892 by priests of the White Fathers' Missionary in Uganda. In 1939, the White Fathers handed over the administration of the Seminary to African priests.
