  • Description

President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia was unable to be present at the recent investiture of President Joseph Mobutu for a new seven-year term. But he flew in for a 24-hour visit four days later. During his visit the two leaders had an important session of talks on matters of mutual concern.

During the talks, the two Presidents discussed the international situation in the light of the recent fighting in Guinea. They also considered the 1967 economic agreement between their two countries and uncertainties over their common frontier.

Ministers from both countries took part in the talks. Among those representing Kinshasa was M. Mario Cardoso, in his first official engagement since taking office as Foreign Minister.
