Both of us are going to reflect on the exchange of views, and we will be in touch with each other in the future, after we have had chance to reflect. And so I genuinely want to thank Foreign Minister Dayan for coming and spending two days here with us in what I consider to be useful talks. Thank you."

DAYAN: "Well I went to thank the Secretary very much for his invitation to me to come over here, and for the time he has given to the discussions here. I know he was very busy recently, and for him to take two days with us in quite a kind of a sacrifice. I am happy with the visit here, with the way we clarified possibilities, with the mutual desire to go on with peace settles. And as the Secretary said, we have to go home and (INDISTINCT) and to report to our cabinet about what we learnt here. And we would be waiting the administration's American reflection and decisions after the discussions we had her, and then we shall see where we can go from there."

REPORTER: "Can I ask you gentlemen what is the next step? Do you get the declaration of principles hopefully and then the Foreign Minister's conference. Is that the sequence that you are hoping to see?"

VANCE: "The next step is for us to reflect on our exchange of views."

REPORTER: "But after that reflection what do you hope to come out of that?"

REPORTER: "You have talked about progress at this point. You have been here, you have talked about the two days that you both spent together. As a result of those two days can you make your progress towards a common goal?"

VANCE: "We did not reach any decisions, but we have had a serious exchange on important subjects."
