The Saudi Arabian Minister of State Mr. Omar Saqqar flew into Amman on Wednesday for two days of talks with representatives of Jordan's Government on the crisis between King Hussein's regime and the Palestine Resistance Movement.
Today (August 5) he was hopeful for the future when the left Amman bound for Syria in a further stage of mediation talks.
He told reporters: "Our problems are about to be solved...and I hope you will hear good news tonight."
Less than a month after the Jordanian army drove the commandos from their bases in stiff fighting in the northern hills and the Jordan valley, Arab efforts to bring the two sides together seem to be reaching a climax.
According to Reuter, travellers arriving from Amman today (August 5) said that Prime Minister Wasfi Tell would be dropped from office, and that Mr. Said Mufti, a former Premier, would be asked to form a new Government.
Mr. Tell, appointed nine months ago after last September's bloody showdown, in Jordan, is now distrusted by the Commando side following the recent tough measures to bring them under tough control.
