They celebrated what they called a day of "National Unity" in the face of increasing demands for autonomy of the Catalan. Andalusian and Galacian regions, and the openly separatist ambitions of the Basque provinces.
SYNOPSIS: The "Fuerza Nueva" rally marched through the most fashionable Salamanca borough of the capital of Madrid. They were led by Senor Bla??? Pinar -- who gained a seat in the Spanish parliament as a member of the Union Nacional, the political party linked with Fuerza Nueva.
The crowd sang the hymn -- "Face To The Sun" raising their arms in the traditional fascist salute.
The message of the marchers was "one Spain, a great and free Spain".
Senor Pinar has expressed hard-line views about the current domestic situation in Spain. he and his party have accused the government of betraying the Spanish people and failing to deal with guerrilla violence and specifically the actions of the separatist Basque movement -- ETA.
According to Reuters News Agency the transition from right-wing dictatorship to a middle of the road parliamentary government has been a custious exercise for Spain. And "Fuerza Nueva" opposes recent constitutional amendments which grant quite substantial autonomy to Catalonia, the Basque country, Galacia and Andalusia.
Extremists continue to express their opposition to current government policy with campaigns of political violence. Madrid police arrested three teenage right-wingers in connection with the killing of a young Communist party militant early in May.
