  • Description

Ambassadors and representatives from ten Arab nations met with Secretary of states William Rogers in Washington on Tuesday (8th September) to discuss the recent spate of hijacking. Afterwards the Ambassador of Kuwait, Talah Al-Ghoussein, acted as spokesman for the group to answer reporters' questions.

Mr Rogers told the diplomats that he did not believe their nations to be responsible for the hijackings, but he asked for government action to secure the earliest possible release of the hostages.

Last night (9th of September), the fifteen nation UN Security Council unanimously appealed for the release of every one of the hostages regardless of their nationality. The Council is standing by today to take further action if their appeal goes unheeded.
