JORDAN THIS WEEK LAUNCHED A MASSIVE VACCINATION CAMPAIGN TO MEET ANY POSSIBILITY OF AN OUTBREAK OF CHOLERA IN IRAQ FROM SPREADING.

TWENTY FIVE CASES HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED IN IRAQ, AND JORDAN, TOGETHER WITH KUWAIT AND TURKEY, HAS INSISTED THAT ALL TRAVELLERS FROM IRAQ GO INTO QUARANTINE FOR FIVE DAYS.

IRAQ AUTHORITIES SAY THE OUTBREAK IS NOW UNDER CONTROL.

IN JORDAN ALL LEAVE FOR DOCTORS AND NURSES HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND GENERAL VACCINATION OF HE POPULATION HAS BEEN ORDERED.

THE JORDANIAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH IS WORKING SIXTEEN HOURS A DAY TO PRODUCE ANTI-CHOLERA VACCINE. AS WELL AS SERVING LOCAL NEEDS, MORE THAN HALF A MILLION DOSES HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO IRAQ.

AS PART OF ITS OWN CAMPAIGN, JORDAN HAS CLOSED SCHOOLS TO ALL STUDENTS NOT IN POSSESSION OF VALID VACCINATION CERTIFICATES.
