Background: As the festivities of St. Joseph draw nearer, the artists of Valencia in charge of modelling the "fallas", feverishly work in the execution of their popular retables. Some of the figures are gigantic in size such as this Pierrot; 9 metres high, which represents life as a joke, and the miser who never tires to devour and is never satiated.
An allegorical representation by Juan Huertas shall be erected in the Plaza del Caudillo, a symbol of Valencia's gratitude to the other Spanish provinces who so rapidly ran in her aid at the time of the devastating flood.
It shall be 18 m. high and in the front steps all the districts and institution who most excelled in their charitable contribution to help the city recover, shall be represented.
