    As the Algerian war entered its seventh year, Nov 1, Arab world cities were the scenes of protest marches and demonstrations in support of the Algerian rebels.

    A crowd of 25,000, mainly students, marched through the streets of Beirut, the Lebanese capital. Chanting and singing pro-Algerian slogans they marched to Premier Saeb Salam;s residence and demand demanded a boycott of France.

    Premier Salam made a short speech to the crowd and they departed waving the flags of the Lebanon, United Arab Republic and the Algerian rebel. In his speech the Premier told demonstrators that his Government agreed with the stand the rebels in Algeria had taken against France.
