    PINGET, THE AUTHOR OS 12 BOOKS, WON ON THE SECOND BALLOT BY SIX VOTES. THE PRIZE IS DECIDED BY AN ALL-WOMEN JURY OF 11 -- THIS YEAR DOMINIQUE AURY, ELISABETH BARBIER, GERMAINE BEAUMONT, JEANNE GALZY, AGNES DE LA GORSE, CAMILLE MARBO, ZOE OLDENBOURG, THE DUCHESS DE LA ROCHEFOUCAULT, MME. SIMONE, CLAIRE STE CELINE AND THE COMTESSE JEANE DE PANGE. THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE DURING A LUNCH IN THE DRAWING ROOMS OF THE CERCLE INTERALLIE IN PARIS.

    THE PRIZE, SECOND IN IMPORTANCE ONLY TO THE PRIX GONCOURT IS WORTH 5,000 FRANCS (ABOUT GBP370 STERLING). HOWEVER, BY WINNING ROBERT PINGET IS VIRTUALLY ASSURED OF "QUELQU'UN" REACHING A SALE OF BETWEEN 100,000 AND 150,000 COPIES.
