  • Description

Arab nationalists have been painting out the hebrew lettering on multi-lingual road signs along the West Bank of Jordan recently. The town of Beth Sakhour, near Bethlehem, was one of the first places this happened last week. According to Israelis Premier Golda Meir, one result of King Hussein's proposal for a United Arab Kingdom along the banks of the Jordan River, would be a resurgence of Arab nationalist activities in the area. On Saturday (25 March) many signs of their activities could be seen.

On walls of Christian churches, sings such as "Let's Use Force" have been painted.

Beth Sakhour was the town where West Bank leaders decided to hold municipal elections last August.
