  • Description

The Algerian Foreign Minister, M. Bouteflika on Friday (Sept. 18) had a 75-minute meeting with President Pompidou at the Elysee Palace in Paris. Their talks are understood to have covered a number of topics, including the Middle East, Algerian oil royalties, and French technical aid to Algeria.

Other members of the French Government were believed to have been present at the talks.

    M. Bouteflika conveyed a personal message to President Pompidou from President Boumedienne.

    M. Bouteflika later spoke to reporters and said his meeting with President Pompidou had been particularly enriching.

He said the message from President Boumedienne was concerned mainly with the development of relations between his country and France. He said that the two countries were on the eve of new negotiations which would reconsider and redefine their relationship in all fields.

Questioned about the Middle East situation, M. Bouteflika said that Algeria's position was clear and was based on unconditional support of all just causes and helping all liberation movements morally, politically and materially.

    M. Bouteflika went on to say that he did not believe that the Palestinian commandos were attacking King Hussein. He thought that rather an attempt was being made to liquidate Palestinian resistance.
